The attack killed Reuters journalist <strong>Issam Abdallah<\/strong> and severely injured Assi, resulting in the amputation of her right leg. The article\u2019s title captures the central demand of survivors and victims\u2019 families: <strong>\u201cWho ordered the strike that killed my friend and maimed me? The EU must demand answers from Israel.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Writing as a surviving journalist and a direct witness to the attack, Assi recalls how seven journalists stood in an exposed location, wearing clearly marked press vests, beside a vehicle marked \u201cTV.\u201d She recounts how the first strike hit the group, followed by a second strike as others attempted to provide her with first aid.<\/p>\n<p>Alongside her testimony, the author draws on investigations conducted by AFP, Reuters, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and UNIFIL.
