{"id":6059,"date":"2026-03-31T17:21:04","date_gmt":"2026-03-31T14:21:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nhrclb.org\/archives\/6059"},"modified":"2026-03-31T17:58:19","modified_gmt":"2026-03-31T14:58:19","slug":"%d9%86%d8%af%d9%88%d8%a9-%d9%81%d9%8a-%d8%ac%d9%86%d9%8a%d9%81-%d8%ad%d9%88%d9%84-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%af%d9%81%d8%a7%d8%b9-%d8%b9%d9%86-%d8%a7%d9%84%d9%82%d8%a7%d9%86%d9%88%d9%86-%d8%a7%d9%84%d8%af%d9%88","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nhrclb.org\/en\/archives\/6059","title":{"rendered":"A seminar in Geneva on defending international law and the multilateral system, and the role of national human rights institutions in an era of regression"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"16\" data-end=\"558\">The National Human Rights Commission of Lebanon, including the Committee for the Prevention of Torture (NHRC-CPT), participated in the seminar entitled: \u201cDefending International Law and the Multilateral System: The Role of National Human Rights Institutions in an Era of Regression,\u201d organized by the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions in cooperation with the Independent Commission for Human Rights \u201cOmbudsman Office,\u201d on the sidelines of the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) meetings in Geneva.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"560\" data-end=\"968\">The seminar was opened with remarks by Mr. Sultan bin Hassan Al Jamali, Secretary-General of the Arab Network of National Human Rights Institutions, and Ms. Maryam bint Abdullah Al Attiyah, Chairperson of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar, who emphasized the importance of strengthening joint action among national institutions in addressing the growing challenges facing the international system.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"970\" data-end=\"1608\">In his intervention, Dr. Ammar Dwaik, Director General of the Independent Commission for Human Rights in Palestine, highlighted the serious challenges facing the protection of human rights in contexts of conflict and occupation. He underscored the critical role of national institutions in documenting violations, promoting accountability, and advocating for the consistent application of international humanitarian law.
